As teachers, we have been using technology in the classroom
for a while now; however, as we all know, it’s how do we use that technology
what makes a difference.
Aditi Rao, a
technology coach in Houston, Texas and creator of the blog
Teachbytes, reminds us the need for using technology in ways
that change the classroom culture of teaching and learning. This shift ought to
allow for teachers facilitating innovation instead of just promoting automating. Rao
explains that teaching the same, and just adding technology, is mostly
automatizing the learning process. Innovating the learning process involves the
teacher facilitating students’ ownership of their learning using technology in
ways that otherwise would not be possible.
